The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) began as a part of the Stone Campbell Movement in the early 19th century, in the United States, as an attempt to end the divisions of denominations. Proclaiming “no creed but Christ” and “unity is our polar star” our founders were committed to an open communion table and the oneness of all Christians.
Fast forward over two hundred years and you will find a diverse denomination attempting to practice radical hospitality and welcome to people of all backgrounds. In a time when many are leaving rigid faith traditions, we believe our openness to intellectual thought and our emphasis on spirituality and justice are needed by an often hurting world.
