J.O.Y. Worship

Sunday morning at First Christian begins with J.O.Y. Worship in the Discipleship Center at 9:00 a.m.  The J.O.Y. acronym is taken from our Amish brothers and sisters—Jesus first; Others next; Yourself last.  Jesus is our Master, Teacher, and Lord; he’s the one we’re attempting to follow as we relate to God and our neighbor.
The J.O.Y. service is led by the Worship Band, several ministers, and lay people.  This worship hour is simple, direct, and energetic; praise songs, choruses, upbeat hymns, community highlights, a scripture lesson and message, prayer time, and communion are parts of worship.  All of these items are enhanced with wonderful visual effects and a coffee bar with pastries, doughnuts and other goodies.
This worship hour concludes in about 50 to 55 minutes just prior to our church school hour of teaching and fellowship.  Come to J.O.Y.!

Sunday School Hour

At 10:00 a.m. First Christian has classes each Sunday morning for kids, youth, and adults for teaching and learning the faith.  Follow the link to the left to learn more about these various classes and groups.  These gatherings offer people Christian fellowship, friendship, and opportunities for growing our Christian faithfulness.  This is a great way to get to know people and to know better the Lord we are following.

Traditional Worship

Traditional Worship at First Christian begins at 11:00 a.m. and takes place in the sanctuary.  Organ, robed choir, acolytes, elders and deacons and various lay participants, set a more formal atmosphere.  Children are included with a children’s moment before they have the opportunity to recess to Children’s Worship in the Discipleship Center.  Special music, prayer and communion, scripture and message help connect traditional worshippers to God.  Come be with us if this style of worship suits your preference; we’d enjoy having you with us.
