Ministers

Don Wilson

Don Wilson serves as Interim Senior Minister of First Christian Church in McKinney. Don has previously served as Senior Minister of First Christian Church of Abilene, TX, Fairview Christian Church of Lynchburg, VA, First Christian Church of Athens, TX and as Associate Minister of Highlands Christian Church in Dallas. Don holds a Bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University (GO FROGS!), a Master of Divinity degree from Brite Divinity School, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. He has been an ordained minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for 32 years.

Don has been married to Carol Joy Wilson for 34 years. They have two sons and a daughter, all in their 20s (for now...) and recently welcomed a lovely daughter-in-law into the family. As a Freshman at TCU, Don wrote the "Go! Go Frogs!" drum cadence cheer that TCU continues to use to this day at all their ball games. Don is an avid roller-coaster rider, and has taken his family on thinly-disguised "family vacations" to such destinations as Six Flags Magic Mountain and Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. He has a deep love and appreciation for classic Christian art and architecture. In 2013, Don and Carol celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary with a 2-week, 2-person tour of Italy via Eurail and lots and lots of walking. Don fulfilled his promise to himself and to God, to one day bring Carol to share in his favorite place on earth, Assisi, the beautiful mountainside home of St. Francis (of Assisi).

Since becoming empty-nesters, Carol and Don have binge-watched more complete TV series than they will ever admit to publicly.
