History

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a religious movement born on the American frontier in the early 1800's.  These early pioneers joined together to share a basic goal-- to unify Christians from different denominations into a practical, down-to-earth religion based on the simple New Testament faith.

The bible serves as each individual's guide for living and faith, but each person is free to explore or interpret the Scripture in his or her own way.

At the core of the Christian Church are these basic principals:

  • Faith in Jesus Christ
  • Repentance of our sins
  • Baptism by immersion
  • Weekly celebration of the Lord's Supper
  • No Creed but Christ

The church's worldwide goals are:

  • Unify all Christians based on New Testament faith
  • Witness to people the love of Jesus Christ
  • Provide service to humankind at local, regional and worldwide levels.

Since 1848 the First Christian Church of McKinney, Texas (McKinney's Oldest Church) has offered fulfilling Christian worship, education and fellowship through its varied ministries.
