Are you an artist—visual, musical, literary? Do you enjoy the process of creating and bringing something new to life? Then you also know about struggle, dryness, impatience, even failure. Jump start your creative energies with Rex McGhee who is teaching The Artist’s Way Workshop at First Christian Church, McKinney, on Thursdays this March and early April.
Rex McGee is a Texan—a screenwriter and film journalist, by training and success. A protégé of the Oscar-winning filmmaker Billy Wilder, Rex understands that the creative process is crucial not only for ‘artists,’ but for living a rich, spiritual life. He spends parts of his life in Hollywood and the remainder in Texas teaching about the creative process via TCU, SMU, UTA, and other venues.
Julia Cameron has been writing—journalist, author, poet, filmmaker—and teaching in and around the worlds of Hollywood and corporate America since the mid-seventies. Her own personal struggles led to the creation of The Artist’s Way, a wonderful text involving philosophical foundations coupled with various practices that help artists unblock, nurture, dream, and care for their creative process. Cameron is adamant that creative work is a spiritual path.
Beginning Thursday, March 2, at 7:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, McKinney, and running on Thursdays through April 6, Rex McGee will be teaching The Artist’s Way Workshop, based on Cameron’s best-selling book. Register below or by calling the church office (972-542-4491). Registration is fulfilled when the $200 registration fee is received. This will be a fun, exciting, and intensive experience; not to mention—this is important work.
